2015 Grammy Awards

Okay, this year’s Grammy Awards was good, with its focus on performances…A LOT of ’em. Some highlights were AC/DC’s opener (Ed Shereen performing “Thinking Out Loud” with John Mayer, Questlove and Herbie Hancock, and later joining Jeff Lynne of ELO on “Mr. Blue Sky” (Lynne performed “Evil Woman” prior). Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga sang their jazz hit “Cheek to Cheek,” which was a welcome change of pace from the pop music.

The big winner was Sam Smith, who won four awards, beating out Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off” twice, in both Record of the Year and Song of the Year. If Beck hadn’t won for Album of the Year Smith should have. (His performance of “Stay with Me,” accompanied by Mary J. Blige, was just gorgeous).
